On making the skirt, cutting the skirt out shoulders be done so that the skirt is hanging with the warp of the fabric, NOT the weft. It will hang much better and not "poof" out.

Thank you Gertie for a great & honest video. Really enjoyed it & was very educated. My Gran used to say if you want to look glamorous on the outside don't worry about the underneath just wear the underwear that works.. In the UK we call big knickers "apple catchers" . Always made me laugh but it's so true 😂

I have 3 of your books. I bought them for myself for my bday. I’m almost ready to get started. A few questions…. 1. I am 2 seperate sizes so an 18/20 on top but a 4-6 on the bottom. How would o do this? Separates, that’s east to figure, but I want the whole cute dress. How would I do that.. 2. How do I determine how mmuch material to buy? 2. Can you make a video on making the undergarments? I’d love to make my self things to fit.

Dear Gertie, I just stumbled over your UA-cam channel and subscribed on the spot. Put myself on your mailing list, too. I have shamed my mother, a wannabe Hippy, since first grade in 1967 because I loved Victorian and 50's fashions. My only complaint is that I live on the Oklahoma side of a Texas boarder town, and the closest fabric stores are 325 or 360 miles away, discounting Walmart's pre-cut one yard pieces of quilting cotton. Any recommendations for online fabric shops that suit your patterns?

So I've been trying to figure out the purpose of the elastic - maybe to keep the underarm area from gapping?

I really love Gertie patterns, I'd really love a more advanced book on cocktail dresses and evening dresses from dior, Charles James and chanel etc... that would be a dream. out of this book the Lillian jacket is probably my favourite look so far I do love this and the Madeline dress though, the 1950s is such a wonderful dressmaking era

Having had the amazing opportunity to be in the studio makes this book all the more special to me. It will be a treasured item to add to all of my patterns and Charm/Gertie memorabilia. The format of this book is truly unique, as it's a bit of a departure from Gertie's other sewing books. This one allows us into her thought process and into her world at Charm Studio. The patterns included with book are mouth watering and absolutely achievable. Gertie gives over-all instructions in the book, but then also includes access to an in-depth, step-by-step video tutorial for each pattern. I learned to sew with Gertie videos during the pandemic lockdown, from scratch. She is a Queen at teaching. I love this book. Thank you Gertie and everyone at Charm.💞

Got my new book yesterday and soooo disappointed the paper patterns are not included with this book Gertie. It’s my own fault for not making sure the paper patterns were included before I ordered it. The book price plus the pdf pattern fee is out of my budget right now so I’ll have to return it 😢.

I've pre-ordered this. I love your books and having UA-cam tutorials is so helpful for self-taught sewists like me. The Lillian jacket sold it for me, although I might have to work up to such a gorgeous couture piece, not sure my skills are quite there yet.
